Resilience is defined is an ecosystems ability to recreate itself or re-emerge in a new form after being destroyed. In the face of rapid change & persistent stress, there is a greater ask for a resilient organisations & resilient employees.
Does that imply that there Is no place for vulnerability & failure from time to time? Do we want employees to be elite soldiers, or is it a fancy way to mask unreasonable demands from organisations or just another lens to differentiate between performing & non-performing employees?
Resilience is, as borne out by research, like a X factor. It is seen as a differentiating competence in those that achieve despite odds, the ability to bounce back despite setbacks, the seemingly chosen ones who outshine & continue when all others give up.
At Mindwize, we view resilience as not an absolute measure. It is highly contextual. And it can be developed over time.
